Dear Sussex County Residents,

Now serving my tenth year as Freeholder, I remain committed to serving the citizens of Sussex County.

During 2009 our County, along with the Nation, experienced troubling economic times. The Freeholder Board and Administration reaffirmed our vows for an even more effective and efficient County government. The County excelled in promoting shared services, not only with municipalities, but with other counties, as well. Our shared services agreements with Morris County regarding our Youth Shelter and Juvenile Detention Center are saving hundreds of thousands of dollars. We continue many other cost savings measures in every department. As Human Services and Social Services liaison I have witnessed double and sometimes triple the number of needy families who are coming to the County for help and guidance to resources. Through the generosity of Sussex County citizens in food drives in area high schools and Stuff the Bus initiatives, our Food Pantry continues to be a source of sustenance for hundreds of needy families in crisis.

According to a NJ Herald editorial, "The freeholders deserve credit for looking for solutions rather than simply maintaining the status quo in a difficult economy."

I am proud to be serving on a Freeholder Board that works collaboratively to solve problems, create solutions and increase efficiency on a tight budget and look forward to serving the County of Sussex in the years to come.
